I was a boarder from 1945-48. Dormitories were on the first floor, and the Head Mistress, Dorothy King, had her apartment on the top floor - access to which was gained via a winding, stone stairway, on one side of the building. Across from the building, was a statue of Queen Victoria. A walking down what was known as Esplanade Road was Flora Fountain.

Would appreciate knowing who this boarder was because I, too, was a boarder at the same time. Knew those stairs to Dorothy King's apartment well - I wore them out with my many summons for a dressing down for one thing or t'other! Teachers lived on the top floor - Dorothy Austin, Mary Bamford are two that come to mind. Miss Fernandez was the matron, whom I nicknamed "Dearie".
